谁敢说GRE神马的不重要？

终于理解了一堆拒信是怎么来的
一个很nice的教授帮我问被Rej的原因
I made a couple of phone calls to check. The primary weakness of your  
application were the English scores (TOFEL, GRE Verbal etc.) XXX（school  
name） has a threshold and if you fall below this then it is hard to get the  
Graduate School to approve/consider the application even if the department  
has a favorable view.

Places like XXX（school name) use these as a pre-screening technique since  
we often get lots of applications. The feedback I got from the review  
committee was basically that technically you would have been a strong  
candidate had your English scores been better. This is not an arbitrary  
issue – our experience with Chinese students is that the most successful  
ones are often the ones whose English is better as it allows for better  
communication with faculty, better writing skills for papers, talks etc.  

GT不过关，申请材料直接进垃圾筒了
不排除有些学校没那么看重GT，有些research大牛瞧不起GT。
但是，人家言之有理，英语好不是更好吗？
又不是不能考好GT，真的与天赋无关，只要辛勤的准备，总不至于这么烂，
为什么当初从大一就被灌输GRE神马的不重要呢，为什么真的这么放纵自己呢？

劝一下师弟师妹，有大牛师兄师姐说GRE神马的不重要时，就当笑话听听，
在精神上鄙视它，在战略上重视它。
